Top Website Formatting Tips For Online Candidate
We see a lot of new sites go up with a nice clean template, but the content is sometimes less than orgainized. Strange fonts, different sizes, and a rainbow of text colors makes the site looks less professional and hard to read. Below are some general tips for making your Online Candidate (or any website) look and read better.
Text: Put ’straight text’ into your page. In other words, DON’T copy text from a Word document and paste it in. Doing that will add all sorts of hidden formatting code and possibly make the page render improperly in a web browser.
Instead, copy the text into a text document, such as notepad, format the text into paragraphs, and then copy and paste the text into the page layout.
Format: After the text is placed, format it. Format your headlines with the format Heading 1 for your top headline, then use Heading 2 for your subpoints. Then bold your necessary phrases and add links where necessary. And that’s it. Don’t go crazy with font size and colors. You can always go back to that later. For now, start with a clean layout.
Images: Add images as necessary. Align them left or right and alternate down the page, so the text wraps around them. Be sure your images are already cropped and sized before you upload them.
Finally, proofread your pages, save them, and generate your site. Check out how it looks. Odds are, it looks very clean and attractive if you follow these steps. Clean is best.
